If you have an egoic shape A (which is as rigid and well-defended as egos usually are), and you want to get to shape B, how do you do it? Well, some people like to iterate and tinker around the edges. Add a little glitter, a funny joke here, another layer of survival strategy there, and we’re done! But that’s boring. What if you want to make massive change, the kinds of change that seem impossible? Things that you’d say, “Well, other people can do that, but not me, not me in a hundred years, it’d be way too scary, I’d have to forget entirely who I was to do that.”
Yes! You would. That is going through Liquid State. You melt down shape A, dissolving into a gooey mess.(The “liquid” refers to the liquidity of your self belief, some people would call it “groundlessness”. Sometimes people also cry a lot.) You go through this so that you can resolidify into a totally transformed shape B.
It takes certain conditions to enter liquid state. I have a particular hobby of enjoying engineering these conditions for myself and others.
